Hypergrowth in tech, Asia Pacific
As The Trade Desk, the largest independent media buying platform, continued to fight to market share, I built the Asia Pacific HR function to scale the workforce and support the company's ambitious growth agenda.
I partnered with entrepreneurial leaders to expand into new Asian markets while ensuring a great employee experience remained a top priority.
While scaling, we built HR infrastructure and high impact solutions all while growing the workforce from 200+ to 500+ employees across 10 countries.
Four years later, The Trade Desk is now a true global company with a $50B market cap. In 2023, we were recognized by Fortune as a Best Workplace in Technology.

The world deserves a better bank
As CHRO at South African Fintech TYME Capital, I built the HR function from scratch while scaling the workforce, to transition the company from a start-up to a full registered digital bank.
Driven by our purpose to advance financial inclusion through accessible and affordable banking in emerging markets, we had a golden opportunity to hire people passionate about the vision and values and who represented the diversity of the community we served. A highlight was recruiting 200+ youth from disadvantaged backgrounds into our frontline roles across the country.
We built end-to-end foundations including HR policies, processes and systems as well as Learning and DE&I Strategies.
Despite cultural challenges following the acquisition, the new challenger bank now boasts 10M customers in South Africa and is scaling banks in multiple markets, unlocking greater financial possibilities for everyone. with less cost and risk.

Getting the right talent in the right roles for a south east asian board
IAB SEA + India, a regional digital marketing association based in Singapore, faced operational challenges as the board expanded, affecting growth and the CEO's bandwidth.
Together, we clarified board member roles and capabilities required, and developed a strategic roadmap for building a leaner, high-performance team. We designed a customised selection process and I interviewed and assessed executive level candidates and managed quality communication every step of the way. Finally, we created an onboarding approach to continue the positive experience, and reset how to work with the newly formed team.
Now, the CEO enjoys a stronger, more efficient team, allowing her to focus on expanding the association's impact across Southeast Asia and India.

A senior leader in the property sector, enjoyed her work but was frustrated by the lack of promotion after 5+ years in the role. Despite positive feedback, she struggled to influence stakeholders, which was holding her back.
Through coaching, she explored new ways of building relationships, gaining buy-in and boosting her influence. Her breakthrough came when she realised that her beliefs about her ability to influence were part of the problem.

My client had a long corporate career, but had never worked for himself. After spotting an opportunity in his industry, he left to start his own business. Six months in, he was stressed, struggling with investor pressure, financials, and managing ALL aspects of the business.
Coaching allowed him to re-focus his time and energy for greater impact, and adopt a more strategic and sustainable approach.
Now 20 months into his business, he's shifted from doing everything himself to delegating, building confidence, and seeing growth. He's equipped for the marathon — not just the sprint. This had a ripple effect on the health of his company, too.

The team in Indonesia was rapidly expanding to seize emerging market opportunities, requiring them to adapt to new colleagues and work styles. While excitement about increasing local market share was high, there were some 'growing pains', with early signs of conflict emerging, prompting the GM to seek assistance.
The Gallup Signature Strengths program allowed each team member to explore their unique combination of strengths and participate in a facilitated team session to strengthen performance.
This resulted in improved trust and morale, reduced conflict, and working more effectively. Leveraging team strengths has powered the growth they've enjoyed for the past 18 months.

GEEQ Australia is a charitable not-for-profit focused on helping GEEQs enter and thrive in the tech sector. A major challenge is empowering individuals to take control of their careers.
Facilitating a virtual event, provided space for participants to re-examine their experiences, skills, strengths, and preferences, before exploring the myriad of options available to them.
Using design thinking principles, participants identified the intersection of their capabilities, strengths, aspirations, and market needs—their "sweet spot."
People left with a broader perspective, increased confidence, and the tools to explore opportunities that will truly work for them.

A key element of leadership development is understanding the gap between how we view ourselves and how others perceive us. Sometimes it's not exactly as we think.
I had the privilege of delivering a 360 Degree Feedback Project for leaders at GoodRx, a California tech firm dedicated to improving access to affordable healthcare.
Vina Leite, the Chief People Officer, recognised that expanding self-awareness is crucial for growth. She invested in a 360 assessment to provide leaders with a broader perspective on how they are viewed by others.
The true value of the 360 process lies in the rich development discussions with each leader.
